Romans 4:13-16

As we’ve seen time and time again in scripture, keeping the law that Moses gave to the Israelites is hard. Paul says,  “For the law always brings punishment on those who try to obey it (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!)” (4:15). We should find comfort in knowing that our salvation isn’t dependent upon our ability to keep the law. God loves us exactly the way we are right now. The beauty of His relationship with us is that even though He loves us as we are right now; He loves us far too much to allow us to stay that way. So, mold you into a person that, even though you may still fail, you desire to keep the law. Not out of a need to be rescued by it, but as a reflection of the same love that has saved us from the eternal consequences of the law. Let us, through the power of the Holy Spirit, press on towards the perfection of Christ.

What does it mean for you to know that your salvation is in no way dependent upon your ability to keep the law?

Does recognizing the grace of God in this situation make you want to change the way you show grace towards others?
